Additionally, it has been shown that
pathogens can use extracellular RNA (exRNA) to spread infections, and exRNAs are associated
with numerous infectious diseases, both in animals and plants. However, very little is still known
about the mechanisms of action of exRNA, with many open questions: how it is determined
which exRNAs will be transported outside the cells, how they are transported, how they are
integrated into functional pathways in the host and how pathogens use these mechanisms. In
order for the potential of exRNA to be used for therapeutic and other purposes, a deep
understanding of the mechanisms of action of exRNA is important. The exRNA-PATH COST

action is a pioneering undertaking in Europe in the field of exRNA research, creating a network
of researchers who examine the mechanisms of exRNA communication in various biological
systems, with a special focus on host-pathogen interactions.

The Role of CPN

CPN contributes to the exRNA-PATH action through expertise in the field of science communication and dissemination of results and activities.
